Dr. Nagle received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his surgical residency at The Cleveland Clinic in 2002. He then completed an Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern University in 2003. Dr. Nagle joined the Northwestern Medicine Faculty in 2003. He was appointed the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 2006. Under his leadership, the program has been designated as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by both the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He has performed over 2,000 bariatric surgeries with excellent clinical outcomes and has established Northwestern as a regional referral center for complex cases.
Dr. Nagle's research interests have focused on the development of new technologies and outcomes related to bariatric surgery. He has authored and contributed multiple peer reviewed journals and publications in the field of advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery. He recently published a textbook entitled Evidence-Based Approach to Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Nagle has trained many surgeons in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery techniques. He has won multiple awards for excellence in teaching. He has served on numerous committees with the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also a member of the Illinois Society of Bariatric Surgery.
