John Y. Kim, MD is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon and a faculty member at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Attending Surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College, and received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Arts in English degrees from Stanford University.
Dr. Kim completed an integrated Plastic Surgery residency in the Michael E. Debakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to do advanced fellowship training at the University of California Los Angeles and has taken advanced Master's Level courses in bariatric plastic surgery
Dr. Kim performs the full spectrum of bariatric plastic surgery including abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, breast lifts, thigh lifts, lipoplasty body and face contouring.
His practice philosophy is to ensure the highest possible care for his bariatric plastic surgery patients by matching technical precision with a keen artistic vision. Every patient is carefully evaluated and treated with an individualized plan that encompasses both the non-surgical and surgical aspects of care. He works closely with other physicians and surgeons to give a holistic approach to bariatric plastic surgery.
Dr. Kim has published widely about novel techniques in reconstructive surgery and has 13 articles published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He sits on ASPS committees for emerging trends and new technologies. He holds several domestic and international patents on a unique class of medical devices recently approved by the FDA.
