Dr. Catherine Hunter is a Pediatric Surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Hunter is engaged in active research in necrotizing enterocolitis. This disease typically affects premature infants and may be life threatening. In addition to her research interests, she maintains a busy practice, caring for many pediatric surgical diseases including: congenital anomalies of the lungs, diaphragm and intestines; pediatric tumors; pectus deformities; and refractory gastroesophageal reflux. She is skilled in advanced minimally invasive techniques in the thorax and abdomen. Her bibliography includes over 30 peer reviewed manuscripts. This work has been presented both nationally and internationally.
She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the American Pediatric Association, the Surgical Infection Society, and the Academic Association of Surgeons.
