Dr. Koppe is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hepatology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency and fellowship at Northwestern before joining the faculty in 2007.
He is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). He is a recipient of the AGA Research Scholar Award for his research examining the role of trans-fats in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the American Liver Foundation (ALF) Great Lakes Division.
He has been recognized with several teaching awards and has varied clinical interests, including viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and C), autoimmune hepatitis, alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and liver transplantation.
