Dr. Helmy is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also the Medical Director of the adult inpatient acute psychiatric unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Helmy is board certified in general psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry. He has served as the Director of the partial hospitalization program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Bearver County, Pennsylvania and Director of Long Term Structured Residential Program also in Bearver County, Pennsylvania. Dr. Helmy has expertise in the forensic evaluation of the severe and persistent mentally ill as a consultant and expert.
